Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team in Decatur, GA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting physicians and patients through a combination of clinical and administrative duties. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent patient care, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment.
Clinical Responsibilities
· Document chief complaints and complete the patient triage process within 5 minutes of check-in.
· Assist physicians with physical examinations and minor procedures.
· Measure and record vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, pulse, and respirations.
· Administer childhood vaccines according to the Georgia Vaccine Schedule.
· Document patient visit requests in the EMR according to established protocols.
· Administer medications and injections under the direction of the healthcare provider.
· Collect laboratory specimens, including blood and urine samples, as ordered.
· Provide patient education materials, including Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) and other healthcare resources.
· Prepare exam rooms and maintain sanitation protocols.
· Follow strict infection control procedures and maintain a clean, safe, and sterile environment.
· Educate patients on infection prevention and proper hygiene practices.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Schedule patient appointments according to office protocols.
· Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
· Verify insurance information and assist with billing and coding functions.
· Process referrals in accordance with insurance requirements.
· Respond to patient calls within 24 hours of receipt, or the same business day for urgent matters.
· Assist with appointment reminder calls.
· Help manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
· Perform additional administrative and clinical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
· Knowledge of EMR systems and medical office procedures.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Bilingual communication skills preferred.
· Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
· Understanding of infection control and patient confidentiality requirements.
